Mark Roach is a Worship Leader. Or an artist/worshiper. Or a worship artist. Or whatever label you want to slap on a singer/songrwiter who creates emotion-laden, contemporary hymns that grace the radio airwaves; who, at the same time, leads a congregation into God's presence every Sunday morning. But that wasn't always the case.
Before Mark was a worship leader, he was simply a songwriter. He started writing songs while still in elementary school, honed his craft while in junior high and high school, and by the time he graduated, he knew his life's work: He would write songs. Songs about life. About love. About girls. But never songs about God.
It was after college Mark made his way to Nashville to write those catchy pop songs. It didn't pan out, but it was during that time he experienced modern worship for the first time. Mark used that experience when he returned home to St Louis after "failing" in Nashville. Soon he was hired as the worship leader for Morning Star Church, a new church in O'Fallon, Missouri.
Mark's proficiency in writing and leading Worship has exploded since that church started in 1999. His music continues to impact congregations around the country and the world. Mark is increasingly in demand for worship conferences, festivals, and concerts. "Every Reason Why," his debut project on Myrrh Records showcases exactly why. From the opening bombast of "A Thousand Hallelujahs," to his debut single, "You Are," which reached number 2 on the Christian charts, to the closing solitude of "Foundations," this album says what Mark wants to say, as directly as he can say it. It's about a people being called to worship The Creator.
